Respo WEEE Association has already reached the collection targets set under the law for 2020. Given the pandemic context we are going through, we have decided to limit the locations within this edition and we intend to continue and expand the campaign in 2021.
As per the provisions of GEO 5/2015, the local authorities are required to ensure the collection of WEEEs coming from private households by means of fixed collection centres, mobile collection points (one centre per 50,000 inhabitants, but no less than one centre per locality) or periodical collection with designated operators.
The first collection campaign started by our Association takes place this year, in several localities in the country, in order to mobilize the citizens of Romania to get involved in the responsible recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. We aim for the campaign to become a tradition every year, though which the population should hand over the old or no longer working equipment in order to be sorted and recovered. The campaign speaks to individuals in the rural and urban area and promotes the selective collection and recycling of WEEE at the community level, calling for accountability. For the promotion of the campaign, we created a set of visual support elements (banner, poster, flyer), customized and with key messages.
